Flat-leaf parsley (Italian parsley): flat, dark green leaves with a stronger flavor. The most common type for cooking.
Curly parsley: tightly curled leaves with a milder taste. Often used as a garnish.
These three herbs look alike, but they’re different:
Parsley (perehil): mild, fresh and slightly peppery. Used in pasta, soups, salads and as a garnish.
Kinchay (Chinese celery): tastes like celery. Used in pancit, lumpia and soups.
Wansoy (cilantro or coriander leaves): strong, citrusy smell. Used in salsa, soups and Asian dishes.
Color: bright green leaves, with no yellow or brown parts.
Leaves and stems: crisp and firm, not wilted or slimy.
Smell: a clean, fresh smell.
Wrap parsley in a damp paper towel and keep it in the fridge, or stand the stems in a glass of water. It stays fresh for about a week. For longer storage, chop it and freeze it, or dry it.

Parsley is perehil in Tagalog, but most Filipinos simply say parsley. It’s often confused with kinchay and wansoy, which are different herbs.
No. Kinchay is Chinese celery. It looks similar, but it tastes like celery and has thinner, hollow stems.
Parsley has pointed, firmer leaves and a mild taste. Cilantro, or wansoy, has rounder, softer leaves and a strong citrusy smell.
It depends on the seller and the season. On FarmyHub it’s currently listed at about ₱132 per kilo. Check the listings for the latest price.
