Check these five things at the market or when your order arrives:
Eyes: clear, bright and slightly bulging, not cloudy or sunken.
Gills: bright red or pink and moist, not brown or slimy.
Flesh: firm. It springs back when you press it and doesn’t leave a dent.
Skin and scales: shiny, with scales that stay in place.
Smell: clean, like the sea, never sour or like ammonia.
Ask the seller when the fish was caught and how it will be packed in ice. For the full checklist, see our guide on how to know if a fish is fresh.
FarmyHub is a marketplace, not a fish stall. We don’t catch, pack or deliver the fish. Each seller manages their own listing, price and stock, so message the seller through the listing to confirm the kind, the size, the price and the delivery.
Also browse hito (catfish), shrimp (hipon), crabs, squid (pusit), dried fish and all fresh seafood for sale. Looking for a regular supplier? See our list of fresh fish and seafood suppliers in the Philippines.
